A postman is a familiar figure who works in the postal department. He is a dutiful person. He has a humble social status. He is known by his dress. He has generally a khaki uniform whit a turban on his head. He has a bag across his shoulder. He delivers letters, parcels, money orders etc. He is a very helpful hand in the postal department He opens mail bags, sorts letters and other postal articles and seals them with date stamps. Then he goes out to deliver them. Everybody waits for him for letters, money order etc. He is a useful public servant. He is a link between us and our relatives living far away. Though he works very hard, he gets a poor payment. To improve his condition his salary should be increased. The service of a postman is very necessary for our society. A selfless worker like him is very now a days. So he should be treated accordingly.

Although he does an important job, he is not given as much opportunity as he is given. As a result, he often became corrupt. Currently the postal system has been digitized. Due to which there has been a fundamental change in its management now. In order to get the desired service from the modern postal system, it is necessary to increase the salary and other benefits of the workers associated with it.

Introduction: The postman is a familiar person in both towns and villages. He generally works in the post office. He performs the duty of delivering postal items such as letters, money orders, parcels etc. to the concerned people. He is a familiar fellow.

What is a postman? The postman is one who is employed by the postal department to deliver postal matters like parcels, letters, money orders etc. according to their addresses.

His life: The postman beings his daily work in the post office at 9'o clock in the morning. He works till afternoon. He leads a busy life.

His qualification: The postman is a fourth class government employee. He is a low paid government servant. He is a not so qualified. Though ill paid the necessary of his service to the society is great.

His duties: Formally every postman had to put on a Khaki dress and carry a bag across his shoulder. Hanging a bag in his shoulder a postman goes from house to house on foot over great distances in sun and rain to deliver postal matters. In delivering money order and registered matters etc. he has to take the addresses, signature  on acknowledgment from. His sense of duty is very great. During the rainy season he gets a rain coat of water proof from the government to perform his duties perfectly and smoothly.
 
Important of a postman: In old days people mostly lived at home with his family. But with the spread of civilization men now live far from their families and friends. So it is natural for them to be anxious for news from one another. Post and telegraph office have come into existence to supply this need. Though he brings both good and bad news for us but every time he is welcome by us. We always wait for him. He is more welcome when he comes with a money order or a some good news.

Conclusion: The postman is an important person in the society. He has to perform highly responsible duties. The reputation of the department depends entirely on his services, but he is not paid.
